Counseling for Couples

Learn how to communicate and heal.

Practice healthy communication and reconnect with your partner.

I find that many couples turn to counseling after they get stuck in a pattern of arguing without resolution. A relationship is in trouble when this pattern leads to resentments and feeling chronically distant from your partner. It can be difficult to engage with your partner when this negativity is present, but couples counseling can be an effective way of having different conversations that lead to more positive outcomes. Whether you feel that your relationship is in trouble, or you worry that it could be in trouble if things do not improve soon,. couples counseling can help you reach resolution.

I offer counseling to relationships that are facing communication issues, problems with intimacy, affair recovery, parenting and other family dynamic issues, as well as those looking for pre-marital counseling.

There are many approaches to working with couples, but I have found that Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) has been particularly helpful for clients looking to improve the quality of their relationships. EFCT focuses on understanding a person’s attachment style and history of attachment injuries in order to increase communication skills and conflict resolution. It also seeks to help develop empathy and appreciation between you and your partner in order to reduce resentments and increase emotional intimacy.
