Counseling for Anxiety
Learn to respond to your worried mind.
Anxiety is there to keep us safe, but often doesn’t feel like it.
Many of us have tried to overcome our anxious thoughts by distracting ourselves or trying to pretend that nothing is wrong. We can become self-critical and try to convince ourselves that there is nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, these attempts usually do not work and we are left feeling as if we are broken, which often leads to more anxiety.
Anxiety can be very difficult to live with. It makes us feel restless and worried. Many of us who struggle with anxiety also have difficultly sleeping or cannot seem to control our worried minds. This sense of anxiety can greatly interfere with our lives and cause us to act in ways that we later regret. It stems from the need to protect ourselves from threats, but becomes a problem when we constantly feel threatened.
I have been helping clients overcome their anxiety for many years. Together we will explore what you have been through and how that has influenced your anxiety response. Then, we learn specific mindfulness based skills that have been shown to lower anxiety and develop an individualized plan that can help you respond to situations instead of reacting to them out of fear or concern. This plan will be implemented with compassion and empathy to promote healing and self-esteem.
Working with clients to improve their lives and overcome their anxiety has been a passion of mine. I have helped clients with a variety of anxiety disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Phobias, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Panic Disorder.
