Counseling for Depression
Learn to reconnect with your life.
Depression is experienced as a notable lack of energy and enjoyment.
Many people who struggle with depression report feeling hopeless and empty. It is more than feeling sad or upset. Depression can be chronic or episodic. It can start as a result of something traumatic, or appear from a gradual sense of overwhelm. Not only does depression rob us of our ability to get sleep or concentrate, it can make us have thoughts that threaten our lives and well-being.
I have worked with many clients with depression, ranging from mild to severe. One of the most common symptoms that I see clients struggle with is an internal sense of self-criticism that damages their self-esteem and confidence. This can lead to profound feelings of worthlessness and may steal a person’s ability to stay connected and engaged in their life.
I use a specific, compassionate focused therapy to work with clients to challenge their sense of self-criticism and help them reconnect with their lives. Through this style of therapy, we will understand the significant influences you have experienced and learn how this depression was created. You will then learn meaningful ways of interacting with negative thoughts and feelings. All of this work is done with intentional empathy, which requires us to first learn mindfulness skills that will become the building blocks for your change. Please feel free to reach out to me to schedule a free consultation if you are interested in addressing your depression.
